Vietjet Launches First Flight to Prague: Expanding Global Reach

Vietjet Air has officially launched its first flight to Prague, Czech Republic, marking a significant milestone in the airline's international expansion. The inaugural flight took off from Hanoi on October 10, 2023, included a stopover in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and is set to operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays using an Airbus A330.

This new route not only connects Vietnam to Europe but also facilitates travel to over 20 countries through Vietjet's extensive network of 186 routes. The airline's CEO, Nguyễn Thanh Sơn, emphasized that this launch is a crucial step towards establishing Vietjet as a global airline, aiming to enhance travel options between Europe, Australia, and Asia.

“These new flights will contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, not only at the government level but also fostering deeper connections between our peoples.”Dương Hoài Nam, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic

According to the Czech Republic's Ambassador to Vietnam, Dương Hoài Nam, the new flights will strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two nations, fostering deeper connections between their peoples. He noted that these routes contribute to the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, which extends beyond government relations to cultural and economic exchanges.

Vietjet's entry into the Czech market comes at a time when the demand for direct flights between Prague and Hanoi is increasing. In 2025 alone, more than 75,000 passengers traveled between the two cities, highlighting the potential for growth in this sector. Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board, stated that establishing a direct flight to Vietnam has been a strategic priority for the airport, given the significant travel demand.

The airline is offering promotional fares for the new route, with prices starting from approximately $239 (5.94 million VND) for the Eco class, not including taxes and fees. The Deluxe class fares start at about $290 (7.32 million VND), which includes additional luggage and meal services. This pricing strategy aims to attract a diverse range of travelers, from tourists to business professionals.

The airline's modern fleet and competitive pricing are expected to make travel more accessible for passengers looking to explore the rich cultural heritage of both regions.
