ETIX, a French data center provider, is expanding its operations in Thailand, aiming to enhance its capacity from 6 megawatts (MW) to 25 MW at its Bangkok Campus. This expansion, known as BKK#2, is a response to the rapid growth of the digital economy in the region and is set to be powered entirely by renewable energy.

According to Louis Blancho, CEO of ETIX Group, the company is committed to developing data centers that support digital economic growth while maintaining environmental responsibility. This approach is encapsulated in their concept of Ethical Internet Exchange, which combines sustainable design with connectivity for telecommunications, cloud services, and content providers.

Pierre Patris, CEO of ETIX Asia, said they are proud of the diversity of their clients, which includes government agencies, banks, and AI companies, each with unique needs and growth plans. He added that their role is to develop infrastructure that meets the requirements of all customer segments, ensuring that their business expansion is not limited by infrastructure.

ETIX started operations in Thailand in 2022 and has experienced an annual growth rate of more than 40%. The company's commitment to sustainability is evident in its design principles, which prioritize efficient energy use, non-water cooling systems, and renewable energy sources. The Bangkok Campus currently utilizes 100% renewable energy through a combination of solar power and certified renewable energy procurement, with solar power accounting for about 11% of electricity production. This setup contributes to a reduction of approximately 480 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The new BKK#2 facility will also incorporate advanced technologies and is being developed in collaboration with Schneider Electric to align with Thailand's new regulatory frameworks regarding energy, water, and land use. This is particularly relevant as the country aims to attract significant investments in digital infrastructure, as outlined in its Eastern Economic Corridor initiative.

ETIX's Bangkok Campus is strategically positioned to serve a wide range of clients, including global cloud and content service providers, financial institutions, and government entities. The facility also hosts two major internet exchange points, BKNIX and THNIX, enhancing connectivity options for clients and facilitating easier access to various network and cloud services.

As demand for AI and cloud services continues to rise, ETIX has invested 450 million baht in new modules to accommodate 400 additional racks and 1,500 kilowatts of IT power, with the first two modules already fully booked.
