Thailand Prepares for Quantum Economy with National Workshop
The Thailand Quantum Readiness Workshop aims to align stakeholders in the country for advancements in quantum technology.

Thailand is positioning itself for the quantum technology era with the recent launch of the "Thailand Quantum Readiness Workshop," organized by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) in collaboration with IBM Thailand. The event, presided over by Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society, gathered representatives from government, academia, and the private sector to discuss the implications and applications of quantum technology.
During the workshop, Deputy Minister Somchai emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing the agility and efficiency of the private sector while advancing the digital governance framework. She stated that the Ministry's initiatives focus on establishing a robust foundation for economic activities, improving laws and regulations to ensure business confidence, and promoting integration between public and private sectors.

Somchai noted that the government recognizes the importance of quantum technology as a critical area for investment and development, which many countries are actively pursuing. She added that the goal is to ensure that all citizens can access and utilize technology effectively, regardless of their age or background. This approach reflects a broader goal of equitable technology access, helping all groups benefit from advancements.
Dr. Supakorn Sittichai, Acting Director-General of DEPA, noted that while the impact of quantum technology may not yet be fully realized in Thailand, the country must prepare its ecosystem comprehensively. He remarked that significant changes are on the horizon, necessitating a holistic approach to quantum technology development, not just focusing on technological advancements alone.
