PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional (PPI) is currently evaluating the establishment of direct shipping routes from Subang, Indonesia, to Europe and the United States. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the port's export capabilities and is being discussed in collaboration with the Patimban Global Gateway Terminal (PGT).

“For direct routes to the US and Europe, it is necessary to build a sufficient volume of cargo from exporters and importers at Patimban first.”Fuad Rizal, CEO of PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional

According to PPI's CEO, Fuad Rizal, discussions with PGT regarding the potential for these long-haul shipping routes are ongoing. However, he emphasized that the realization of this plan will require time and a significant increase in export and import volumes through Patimban. Fuad explained that for direct routes to the US and Europe, it is necessary to build a sufficient volume of cargo from exporters and importers at Patimban first.

Fian Indiyawanto, the Operations Director at PGT, acknowledged the importance of this initiative but noted that the company is currently prioritizing the development of shipping services within Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. He stated that while they hope to support long-haul routes, the focus at this moment is on services in their immediate region. This indicates a phased approach to expanding Patimban's international reach.

The push for direct shipping routes aligns with Indonesia's efforts to enhance its export capabilities, particularly as the country seeks to strengthen its position in global trade.
