SonKim Land's Four Projects Approved for Foreign Ownership
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction confirms SonKim Land's compliance with regulations for four residential projects open to foreign buyers.

SonKim Land has received official approval for four of its residential projects to be sold to foreign buyers. According to a notice from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction (DoC), these projects include The Metropole Thủ Thiêm, Gateway Thảo Điền, The Nassim Thảo Điền, and The 9 Stellars (comprising Alta Height and Alpha Residence).
The approval, outlined in Công văn số 36357 from the DoC, confirms that SonKim Land has completed all necessary administrative procedures to allow foreign individuals and organizations to purchase properties within these developments. The company emphasized its commitment to legal compliance and transparency in its operations, ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of its customers and partners.

SonKim Land was recently fined for failing to timely submit information about the sale of apartments at Gateway Thảo Điền to foreign buyers. This administrative penalty decision relates to reporting obligations and does not concern sales exceeding foreign ownership limits or transactions in unauthorized areas.
SonKim Land has indicated that the penalty decision is an important basis for finalizing its administrative procedures with state agencies and has officially allowed transactions for foreign customers. The company said it ensures there is no negative impact on the legitimate ownership rights of its customers.
Meanwhile, coverage from Vietnamese media outlets highlights a broader context regarding the approval of foreign ownership in real estate. For instance, Thanh Niên reported that the approval aligns with Vietnam's strategic goals to attract foreign investment, particularly in the real estate sector, which is seen as vital for economic growth. This perspective emphasizes the significance of such approvals in enhancing Vietnam's appeal as a destination for international investors.
Indonesian coverage, while acknowledging SonKim Land's compliance, stressed the importance of regulatory transparency and the need for companies to adhere strictly to reporting obligations. This reflects a more cautious approach, focusing on the implications of regulatory compliance for foreign investors.
In contrast, Vietnamese outlets framed the approval as a positive step towards integrating Vietnam into the global real estate market, with an emphasis on the potential economic benefits of increased foreign investment. This framing suggests a more optimistic outlook on the future of Vietnam's real estate sector, particularly as it seeks to position itself as a competitive player in the ASEAN market.
