Business overview

Company background

Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on 1 July 1997, governed under the Basic Law which grants it a high degree of autonomy.

The Basic Law serves as the constitutional document of the HKSAR, enshrining the principles of 'one country, two systems' and 'Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong'. The HKSAR government enjoys executive, legislative, and independent judicial powers, including final adjudication, with a political system and way of life unchanged for 50 years.

The head of the HKSAR and its government is the Chief Executive, supported by the Executive Council, Legislative Council, and the Court of Final Appeal as the highest court.
