Business overview

Company background

The Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) is an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Philippines, established by Republic Act 7307 in 1992.

The center pursues a mandate as the national lead agency for livestock biotechnology research and development within the Department of Agriculture. Its carabao development program focuses on genetic biodiversity conservation, genetic improvement through crossbreeding, and establishment of buffalo-based village enterprises to support smallholder farmers.

DA-PCC opened the country's first multispecies semen sex-sorting laboratory to produce more female calves and help rebuild the declining carabao population.
