STPI Acquires 60% Stake in Daisy Drive to Expand Clean Energy Footprint

STPI Public Company Limited (STPI) has officially announced its decision to acquire a 60% stake in Daisy Drive Co., Ltd., a company focused on renewable energy production. This move was approved during the company's board meeting on September 11, 2569, and is expected to be finalized by the end of the month.

The acquisition involves purchasing 600,000 common shares from Impact Electronics Siam Co., Ltd. (IES), with a total investment of approximately 1.5 million baht. Daisy Drive, which has a registered capital of 10 million baht, specializes in generating electricity from renewable sources for both public and private sectors.

“The investment will create long-term benefits for the group.”STPI Board of Directors

As part of its growth strategy, Daisy Drive plans to develop a solar power plant with a capacity of 55 megawatts, complemented by a 40 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS). This project aims to support clean energy initiatives, particularly for data centers, representing a total investment of about 1,419 million baht. Funding for the project will come from loans and support from the Japanese government under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), with STPI responsible for approximately 135 million baht of the investment.

“The Thai government has been increasingly supportive of renewable energy projects.”Analysts

Upon completion of the acquisition, Daisy Drive will become a subsidiary of STPI, with ISGT holding the majority stake. The board of STPI believes this investment will provide long-term benefits to the company and its group.

According to analysts, the Thai government has been increasingly supportive of renewable energy projects, aiming to boost the country's energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift towards clean energy investments, with the Board of Investment (BOI) reporting a surge in electric vehicle and renewable energy projects across the country.
