China's Economic Stimulus: Impacts on Thailand's Market and Key Stocks
China's recent economic stimulus package is expected to positively influence Thai stocks linked to the Chinese economy, particularly in infrastructure and commodities.
China has announced a substantial economic stimulus package worth 550 billion yuan (approximately $82 billion) aimed at bolstering its economy in the fourth quarter of 2026 (Thai calendar year 2569). This allocation represents about 0.4% of China's GDP, including 300 billion yuan for local government liquidity and 250 billion yuan to accelerate infrastructure investments, as reported by Kaohoon.
Analysts from Krungsri Securities believe that this stimulus could create a positive sentiment for Thai stocks, particularly those categorized as China Plays, which are closely tied to China's economic activities. The firm highlighted companies such as Siam Cement Group (SCC), PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), and Indorama Ventures (IVL) as potential beneficiaries of this economic boost.

Specifically, SCC is expected to report a normal profit of around 2.8 billion baht for Q3 2026, showing recovery from the previous year. This improvement is largely attributed to the petrochemical sector, which is experiencing tight supply conditions due to reduced operational rates and delays in new plant openings. Meanwhile, PTTGC is projected to maintain profitability in the second half of 2026, benefiting from improved margins in the petrochemical business, with analysts forecasting a 41% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in profits from 2026 to 2028.
IVL also shows a positive outlook, with a normal profit of approximately 7.3 billion baht in Q2 2026, driven by strong margins in its surfactants and fibers businesses. However, Krungsri Securities has adjusted its recommendation for IVL, suggesting investors consider buying when the stock price softens due to seasonal pressures in its PET business.

In addition to the direct impacts on specific companies, the broader implications of China's stimulus are noteworthy. The Thai stock market has increased nearly 30% year-to-date, with foreign fund flows positive at approximately 70 billion baht. This trend is supported by the Thai government's efforts to attract foreign investment, particularly as the country prepares to host the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in October 2026, as reported by The Standard.

Moreover, the Thai Stock Exchange is in discussions with Chinese authorities to develop a new index that would integrate the Chinese, Hong Kong, and ASEAN markets, potentially facilitating greater foreign investment inflows. This initiative aligns with China's policies encouraging domestic institutional investors to explore international markets.
While the full impact of China's stimulus remains to be seen, analysts suggest that the economic recovery in China could significantly influence investment activities in Thailand, particularly in sectors aligned with infrastructure and commodities.
