₱4.5 Billion Investment to Upgrade Bohol-Panglao International Airport
The Bohol-Panglao International Airport operator announces a significant investment to modernize the facility and enhance passenger capacity.

The operator of Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) has unveiled plans for a substantial investment of ₱4.53 billion aimed at modernizing the facility. This initiative is designed to enhance the airport's capacity to accommodate growing passenger traffic and larger aircraft, reflecting the increasing demand for air travel in the region.
According to reports from The Manila Times, the refurbishment will include improvements to terminal facilities and the overall infrastructure of the airport, which serves as a critical gateway for both domestic and international tourists visiting Bohol.
BPIA, which opened in November 2018, has been recognized as the first eco-airport in the Philippines, emphasizing sustainable practices in its operations. The airport was constructed to replace the older Tagbilaran Airport and has since played a vital role in supporting the surge in tourism to Bohol, a province renowned for its natural attractions, including the Chocolate Hills and pristine beaches.

As reported by InsideASEAN, the increase in air traffic is further underscored by Philippine Airlines' recent expansion of its long-haul fleet, which will enhance connectivity to international destinations. This trend indicates a robust recovery in the aviation sector, as airlines respond to the growing demand for travel.
Analysts suggest that such developments are crucial for the Philippines, particularly in regions like Bohol that rely heavily on tourism for economic growth.
