Magnitude 4.1 Earthquake Strikes Bogor Region: No Damage Reported

On October 15, 2026, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck the Bogor area in Indonesia at 17:58:23 WIB, as reported by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG). The epicenter was located 26 kilometers southwest of Bogor city, with several surrounding areas feeling the tremors.

According to BMKG, affected regions include Kabandungan and Cikidang in Sukabumi, as well as multiple districts within Bogor such as Pamijahan, Nanggung, and Cibinong. Fortunately, there have been no reports of damage or injuries resulting from the quake.

BMKG officials have urged local residents to remain vigilant for potential aftershocks, which are common following seismic events. This earthquake follows a recent series of seismic activities in Indonesia, with BMKG noting that there have been over 30 significant tremors recorded in the past week across various regions.

In a related event, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake was felt in Muarabinuangeun just days earlier on October 12, 2026. This quake was also reported to have no significant impact, with only minor tremors felt by residents.

Indonesia, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to seismic activity due to its geological positioning. The country has experienced numerous earthquakes over the years, prompting ongoing monitoring and preparedness efforts by authorities to mitigate risks to communities.
