Mother-Daughter Cancer Survivors Share Their Journey of Resilience

In a poignant display of resilience, Vanessia Woo, 48, and her eight-year-old daughter Olivia will walk the runway together at the Fashion for Cancer charity event. Olivia's early life was spent in an isolation ward, undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a rare and aggressive blood cancer affecting infants. Vanessia shared that Olivia's baby photos are starkly different from typical childhood memories, filled instead with images of hospital equipment and medical interventions. After years of treatment, Olivia's health has improved, though she faces challenges such as foot drop, a condition that affects her mobility due to the chemotherapy she received. Despite these hurdles, Olivia's spirit shines through as she prepares to join her mother on the runway.

Vanessia's own diagnosis came in 2023, shortly after Olivia's recovery. She underwent a series of treatments that included chemotherapy and surgery, which resulted in the removal of multiple tumors. Vanessia expressed her determination to fight for her loved ones, emphasizing that there is no time for sadness.
