GCash's Record IPO: Institutional Investors Commit Billions Ahead of Launch
Mynt, the parent company of GCash, secures over P36.5 billion in commitments from global and local investors for its upcoming IPO, marking a significant milestone in the Philippine fintech landscape.

MANILA, Philippines – Mynt Inc., the parent company of GCash, has garnered substantial interest from institutional investors ahead of its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO), which is set to be the largest in Philippine history. With commitments exceeding P36.5 billion (approximately $583 million) from over 20 global and local institutions, the IPO reflects a significant vote of confidence in GCash's position as the leading finance super app in the country.
The cornerstone investors include notable global asset management firms such as BlackRock, which manages $15.3 trillion in assets, and Capital Research and Management Company, part of Capital Group with over $3.6 trillion in assets. Other key investors include T. Rowe Price, HSBC Global Asset Management, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. This diverse group of investors indicates a robust institutional backing that Mynt hopes will translate into strong demand during the public offering period, scheduled for October 6 to 12, 2023.
“We believe this reflects confidence in our position as the nation’s number one finance super app, our track record of profitable growth, and the significant market opportunity that lies ahead of us.”Martha Sazon, President and CEO of Mynt
Mynt's IPO aims to raise up to P92.3 billion (approximately $1.47 billion) at a maximum price of P10 per share, contingent on the overallotment option being fully exercised. The final offer price will be determined on October 1, following a book-building exercise. This IPO not only marks a pivotal moment for Mynt but also sets a precedent for future fintech listings in the Philippines, as noted by Ramon S. Monzon, President and CEO of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), who stated that this offering could pave the way for more digital economy companies to access capital through public markets.
According to Mynt President and CEO Martha Sazon, the strong interest from cornerstone investors reflects confidence in GCash's track record of profitable growth and the significant market opportunities that lie ahead. As of June 2026, GCash boasts 41.5 million monthly active users, representing nearly 56% of the adult population in the Philippines. This extensive user base is complemented by a growing suite of financial services, including savings, investments, and loans, which have positioned GCash as a formidable player in the digital finance landscape.
Eric Jurado, a hedge fund manager focused on Southeast Asia, emphasized that GCash's established ecosystem and ability to convert its large user base into sustained earnings growth likely attracted institutional interest. He noted that a competitor would not simply have to create another mobile wallet; it would have to build a comparable customer base, merchant network, financial infrastructure, brand, regulatory capabilities, and ecosystem of financial products. Jurado also mentioned that Mynt’s net profit from 2023 to 2025 rose at a compound annual growth rate of about 64%, further underscoring its potential for future growth.

The upcoming IPO comes at a time when the adoption of digital payments in the Philippines has surged, increasing from 20.1% in December 2020 to 66.4% by December 2025. This trend positions GCash favorably within a rapidly evolving financial landscape. As Mynt prepares for its IPO, the company aims to deepen customer engagement and expand its ecosystem, which will be critical for its long-term success in a competitive market.
As the October 20 listing date approaches, Mynt's ability to execute its growth strategy will be closely monitored by investors and analysts alike. The implications of this IPO extend beyond Mynt itself, potentially influencing the trajectory of the Philippine fintech sector as a whole.
