ACEN Corporation Partners with ACS Manufacturing for Renewable Energy Supply
The Ayala-led ACEN Corporation has signed a power supply agreement with ACS Manufacturing to provide renewable energy to its facilities in Laguna, aiming to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency.
ACEN Corporation, a subsidiary of the Ayala Group, has entered into a power supply agreement with ACS Manufacturing Corporation to provide renewable energy to two of ACS's manufacturing facilities located in Laguna. This partnership is part of ACEN's broader strategy to promote sustainable energy solutions in the Philippines.
Under the agreement, ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of ACEN, will supply the facilities with 100% renewable energy. This transition is anticipated to enable ACS Manufacturing to avoid approximately 4,270 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, which is comparable to the carbon absorption of over 193,000 trees, according to ACEN's estimates.

Mailene Supetran, CEO of ACS Manufacturing, emphasized that the switch to renewable energy aligns with the company's commitment to environmental sustainability. She stated, “Our switch to renewable energy for our Laguna plants is a strategic move to align our manufacturing processes with our commitment to the environment.” This shift not only aims to enhance operational efficiency but also to reduce the company's overall carbon footprint.
Established in 1977, ACS Manufacturing is recognized for producing well-known consumer brands, including Pride powder detergent, Shield bath soap, and Unique toothpaste. The company's decision to adopt renewable energy is a significant step towards modernizing its manufacturing processes and improving its sustainability profile.

The arrangement was facilitated by the Philippine government's Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), which allow eligible electricity customers to select their preferred energy suppliers. Tony Valdez, ACEN's Senior Vice-President for Market Transformation and Retail, remarked, “By choosing to switch to 100% renewable energy, companies like ACS Manufacturing empower ACEN to continue developing more renewable energy assets in the country.” He further noted the commitment to assist more eligible customers in navigating the RCOA and RAP programs to achieve both cost savings and a meaningful reduction in their environmental impact.
As of the end of 2025, ACEN RES held a substantial market share of 65% in the retail electricity sector, reflecting the growing demand for renewable energy solutions in the Philippines. ACEN itself boasts approximately 7 gigawatts of attributable renewable energy capacity, positioning it as a key player in the country's energy landscape.
